Upper class forty year old white men have secrets. They range from affairs to money laundering schemes. In this story we get a closer look at one of their secrets, only it doesn’t involve the usual suspects of greed and lust. Preston Freedman has a secret love for rap music.
When his secret gets out his life gets transformed in ways he couldn’t imagine. Along the way he encounters Reggie, a rambunctious teenager who has a different take on life. Jammin’ Jay who owns Jammin’ Jay’s Record store serves as an open forum for all things. Preston learns to overcome his bosses and co-workers in the stiff white collar office he inhabits every day.
Everything comes together in the end to make us question our roles in society and how we are defined by the music we listen to, to the color of our skin.
Production:
 John Morelli wrote and directed this film that overcame many obstacles to reach audiences, things such as sound issues to crashed hard drives that left the project in jeopardy.
Brie Knight worked tirelessly to gather all of the elements needed, such as the actors, crew and budgeting as the Producer on the project.
Scott Resnick was the Director of Photography on the project who brought his expertise and his unique look to the picture. Not to mention his zeal for playing connect four.
This film was shot from early July until late August 2005 at several locations in Philadelphia. Spots that the production used were the World Famous Le Bec Fin and 611 Records on South Street serving as the backdrop for Jammin’ Jay’s Records.
The steadi-cam shot in the opening was operated by Chris Nuut and was undertaken as a intricate ballet of actors and crew moving at a fast pace to create the hysteria of the office space.
All together this is a project by a group that was determined to deliver something original and unique. To not have the shortcomings of the usual student film, the end results have left the crew and audiences really entertained.
